The Oud was and will always be for me the icon of oriental music. I have always considered that it is my duty as a teacher and as a musician to emphasize its importance. The relationship between the student and the instrument needs to be built, in a melodic way, upon the maqam Arabic music, and, in a technical way.
Dr George Roufael composed more than 400 pieces inspired by the Arabic musical legacy. Professor in the High National Music Academy in Beirut, he has been training generations of musicians and music professors of the Conservatory. He published many books in Arabic, among which “Tarab” (Delight) in Arabic music.
